Lesson 21: Faith, Hope and Love
Three things we have been given: faith, hope and love. Faith: God demands our action in addition to our believing and thinking. Just as the soul is dead without the Holy Spirit so also is faith dead without works. We need to put Christ at the head of every area of our lives so our lives will bear fruit. Hope is not unfounded wishful thinking; it is firm confidence in Christ and in His return. Love to be sincere, must be based on right motives and right intentions, good conscience and sincere faith.
The Gospel, which can save us from spiritual enslavement, has come upon us with power. This power resides in the Holy Spirit but it also resides in the Gospel. Three things mark our conversion: turning from our idols to God, serving God, and waiting for Christ’s return, Christ who will save us from the coming wrath.
