Lesson 60 – Inspiration Note from the Gideons

Following are the words of a young African man before he was martyred:

I am part of a fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast, I have stepped over the line, the decision has been made. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed vision, worldly talking, cheap giving and dwarfed goals. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I won’t give up, shut up, or let up until I’ve stayed up, stored up, and prayed up for the cause of Jesus Christ. I must go until He comes, give until I drop, preach until everyone knows, work until He stops me; and when He comes for His own, He will have no trouble recognizing me because my banner will have been clear.

Does your life measure up to that statement? I am striving to make mine so, and I know that the only way we will survive as Gideons is that all of us that call ourselves by that name want to do the same. If we do not strive to be like that we will not survive as a ministry and indeed we shouldn’t.

I leave you with the words of Jesus in: Rev.2:5 “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lamp stand from its place – unless you repent.”
