Lesson 89: God as the Center of Our Lives
Often, it seems, there are times when something we anticipate with great joy doesn’t end up being nearly what we expected; or while we are experiencing something, we’re only taking in through a narrow window of our being all that is being revealed to us. The Scriptures tell us that without God nothing satisfies, and that with Him we find satisfaction and enjoyment. If we view everything as a gift from God, each thing we will appreciate with new understanding. And so, the key to experiencing everything in its fullness is to give thanks to God for creating, sustaining and upholding everything and every new experience He brings us to; not in focusing on ourselves and whether or not we are feeling fulfilled. As we make God the center of our life, work and activities, and prayerfully ask Him to be part of each of our experiences, then we can live life’s experiences to their fullest. God understands everything each of us needs to be happy and fulfilled, and He can bring this out of every experience as we invite Him to be part of every day’s activities. In so doing we will be living to our highest purpose, to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We will never perfect this in this lifetime, in our human weakness in a world ruled by satan. But we can experience enough of a foretaste to experience this life much more fully.
